Navigate Your Immigration Journey with Confidence
Whether you are relocating to Jamaica, seeking to regularise your status, or managing cross-border matters, we provide considered legal guidance at every stage.
How We Can Help
We work with individuals, families, and corporate clients across a range of immigration matters — from work permits and residency applications to citizenship by descent and cross-border coordination with US counsel.
Work Permits
Employment & RelocationForeign nationals seeking employment in Jamaica are generally required to obtain a work permit before commencing work. The application process involves submissions to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, and requirements vary depending on the role, the applicant's qualifications, and the employer's circumstances.
We assist employers and prospective employees with the preparation and submission of work permit applications, renewals, and exemption requests, ensuring that all supporting documentation meets the applicable requirements.
Permanent Residency
Long-Term SettlementPermanent residency allows foreign nationals to live and work in Jamaica without the need for periodic visa renewals. Eligibility is assessed by the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) on a case-by-case basis, taking into account factors including length of stay, financial independence, character, and ties to the island.
We guide applicants through the documentation and submission process, and liaise with PICA on their behalf to support a smooth application.
Citizenship by Descent
Birthright & HeritagePersons born outside of Jamaica to at least one Jamaican parent may be entitled to Jamaican citizenship by descent under the Jamaica Constitution and the Jamaica Citizenship Act. This extends to certain second-generation applicants born abroad to a Jamaican citizen who themselves acquired citizenship by descent.
We assist with the preparation and submission of citizenship by descent applications, including gathering the required vital records and liaising with PICA throughout the process. For members of the diaspora, this is often the first step in reconnecting with Jamaica — whether for personal, investment, or estate planning purposes.
Citizenship by Marriage
NaturalisationA foreign national married to a Jamaican citizen may apply for naturalisation after meeting the required period of lawful residence and satisfying the criteria prescribed under the Jamaica Citizenship Act. This includes evidence of a genuine marital relationship, compliance with residency requirements, and a clean immigration history.
We assist with the preparation of naturalisation applications and liaise with PICA throughout the process.
